Security Campaign in Baghdad's Rusafa Leads to Arrests, Weapon Seizures

The Interior Ministry announced Wednesday the arrest of wanted individuals and residency violators, alongside the seizure of unlicensed weapons and an unauthorized alcohol store in Baghdad's Rusafa. A proactive security campaign was executed by the Baghdad Rusafa Police Command in Al-Nairiya. Spokesperson Colonel Mohammed Ali Al-Hassoun explained the campaign, involving security and intelligence formations, was conducted under the Senior Undersecretary's supervision to enhance security and enforce law. It aimed to pursue wanted persons and seize violations and unlicensed weapons. The campaign resulted in the arrest of wanted individuals (under Articles 28 narcotics and 456 Penal Code) and the detention of eight foreigners for residency violations. An unauthorized alcohol store was also seized. Four individuals possessing unlicensed weapons were apprehended, including two Kalashnikov rifles and two pistols. Al-Hassoun affirmed the detainees are held for legal procedures, commending the security formations' efforts.
