The Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday taking legal measures against 6,020 foreign residency violators throughout last September, reinforcing continuous efforts to regulate residency procedures and enforce regulations. Colonel Mohammed Ali Al-Hassoun, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, stated in an official release that authorities arrested 1,760 violators, including 783 in Baghdad and 977 across other governorates. Al-Hassoun added that 4,260 violators were deported, comprising 2,425 in the capital and 1,835 in remaining provinces, emphasizing that these coordinated steps form part of ministerial procedures to legally track and address residency violations.
