Iraq Affirms Commitment to Signing Prisoner Transfer Agreement with Tajikistan

Iraq's Justice Minister, Khalid Shawani, affirmed on Tuesday the country's desire to finalize a prisoner transfer agreement with Tajikistan. This came during Shawani's reception of Tajikistan's Ambassador, Zubaidullo Zubaidzoda, where they discussed enhancing legal cooperation. A Ministry of Justice statement reported that talks focused on completing the prisoner exchange agreement, in line with existing legal frameworks and human rights standards, to serve mutual interests. During the meeting, Shawani stressed Iraq's commitment to finalizing the transfer agreement, underscoring the ministry's aim to expand cooperation with friendly nations to boost bilateral relations and achieve shared interests. Ambassador Zubaidzoda, for his part, expressed his country's keenness to strengthen bilateral ties, especially in judicial and legal areas, confirming Tajikistan's readiness to complete the necessary procedures for the agreement.
