Federal, Kurdistan Ministries Agree to Boost Mutual University Admission Seats to 1250

An agreement was reached today, Tuesday, between the Federal Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Higher Education in the Kurdistan Regional Government, to increase mutual admission seats between both sides to 1250. This came during an expanded meeting held to complete the path of scientific and strategic cooperation between the two ministries. The meeting was chaired by the Undersecretary for Scientific Affairs, Haidar Abdul Dahad, and attended by the Advisor to the Ministry of Higher Education in the Kurdistan Region, Sabah Ibrahim Ways, along with the Directors-General of the Departments of Studies, Planning and Follow-up, Scholarships and Cultural Relations, and Research and Development from both sides. The meeting discussed scientific files of common interest and explored mechanisms to enhance academic cooperation, as well as overcoming administrative and technical obstacles that might hinder the completion of mutual admission procedures and certificate equivalency between the two parties. The meeting resulted in expanding the scope of mutual student admissions for the upcoming academic year. For undergraduate studies, it was agreed to increase the number of accepted seats from 400 to 1000 students from both sides. For postgraduate studies, it was agreed to increase the number of seats from 100 to 250 students from both sides. Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing scientific and academic coordination and facilitating procedures related to admissions and certificates, serving the students' interests and supporting the cooperation between higher education institutions in the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government.
