Director of Commander-in-Chief's Office Chairs Meeting on Foreign Labor Oversight

Major General Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, Director of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Office, chaired a meeting on Tuesday dedicated to reviewing the status of foreign labor in Iraq. This meeting was held in implementation of directives from the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, focusing on monitoring and scrutinizing foreign labor conditions. Attendees included a representative from the Supreme Judicial Council, the Director-General of Civil Status at the Ministry of Interior, the Director of Residency Affairs Directorate, along with representatives from the National Security Service, the National Intelligence Service, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and representatives from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The session was dedicated to discussing the mechanisms for implementing the Commander-in-Chief's directives concerning the monitoring of foreign labor within Iraq and ensuring the legality of procedures adopted in this regard, thereby aligning with current laws and regulations. During the meeting, Al-Shammari emphasized the paramount importance of regulating the labor market. This regulation aims to achieve a crucial balance between market demands and the country's need for specialized expertise across various sectors. The attendees underscored the necessity of strict enforcement of laws against cases of foreign labor operating outside legal frameworks, thereby reinforcing oversight, auditing, and follow-up measures by relevant authorities. They cautioned against the potential economic, security, and social repercussions arising from such violations. Concluding the meeting, Al-Shammari affirmed the continuous follow-up on this vital issue and the submission of necessary recommendations, paving the way for their presentation to the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces for appropriate decision-making.
