Ship-tracking data shows five Qatari LNG tankers approaching the Strait of Hormuz, marking the first attempted transit of liquefied natural gas since the conflict began in February. This move follows the temporary reopening of the strait on Friday, with tankers such as Al-Ghashamiya and Rashida heading toward Pakistan and India, amid conflicting reports regarding the security stability of the waterway.
According to Kpler analytics, these movements coincide with the resumption of operations at Qatar's Ras Laffan and the UAE's Das Island terminals. Despite this progress, the energy sector still faces significant hurdles, as previous attacks disrupted 17% of Qatar’s LNG export capacity, with repairs expected to last several years.
