Iran Anticipates Restoring Significant Portion of Its Natural Gas Production Capacity in Coming Months

Tehran anticipates restoring approximately 100 million cubic meters per day of its natural gas production capacity in the coming months, according to a high-ranking Iranian official. The official indicated that this measure is part of the sector's recovery following a series of challenges it has faced. Attacks targeting Iran's energy infrastructure had led to a production decline of about 230 million cubic meters since late February, exacerbating an existing imbalance in gas supplies. Mohammad Jafar Ghaem Panah, the executive deputy to the President, stated that national production previously stood at around 650 million cubic meters per day before these setbacks, emphasizing that restoring the lost production capacity will contribute to enhancing energy supply stability. Iran's energy system faces increasing pressure during hot summer months, where rising electricity demand for cooling exacerbates power shortages and frequent outages, negatively impacting residential and commercial sectors. The government is actively working to manage consumption and boost electricity generation capacity, particularly through the deployment of solar panels, to alleviate the strain on the national grid. Ghaem Panah reported that diligent efforts by workers in the oil and gas sectors prevented the shutdown of energy facilities despite the attacks, and the government is committed to ensuring stable gas and electricity supplies, especially for industrial and petrochemical production.
