Iraq's SOMO Seeks Gasoil Shipments for First Time Since 2025
Iraq's State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO) is seeking to procure gasoil shipments for delivery in August and September through a spot tender, marking the first such move since January 2025. The state-owned company aims to purchase 127,500 tonnes (949,875 barrels) of gasoil with a sulphur content of 2,500 parts per million. The first shipment, totaling 40,000 tonnes, is scheduled for loading by August 1. The deadline for submitting bids for the tender is July 22, with offers remaining valid for 20 days. Previously, in January, trade sources indicated that SOMO had sought to sell quantities of gasoil with a sulphur content of 1,000 parts per million for shipment between February and April, either from Khor Al-Zubair port or Umm Qasr port. This development comes as Iraq commenced operations at its new Karbala refinery in 2023.
