Agreement Reached on Resuming Government Dialogue to Counter Sanctions, Unify National Stance, Support Housing Projects, and Combat Corruption

Details from the State Administration Coalition meeting, hosted by Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi at the Government Palace last Saturday evening, revealed extensive discussions on several important economic, political, and legislative files. This took place during the coalition's 38th regular meeting. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's media office, the coalition discussed the economic, financial, and investment situation in the country. The meeting addressed the new cities project and the one million residential land plot initiative, emphasizing the importance of proceeding with measures that support investment and address the escalating housing crisis. In this regard, the Prime Minister announced his directive to halt the demolition of encroachments until the one million residential land plots are distributed to eligible recipients. The meeting also tackled the government's measures in combating corruption and institutional reform, the draft law for the Federal Internal Oversight Authority, in addition to essential legislative laws required for implementing government programs. Al-Zaidi affirmed the continuation of the anti-corruption approach, while the attendees reiterated their full support for the anti-corruption campaign, the pursuit of corrupt individuals, and the judicial authority's actions in this regard in accordance with the law. On the political front, the coalition discussed internal developments and current regional and international circumstances. It stressed the importance of unifying the national stance, preserving Iraq's stability and sovereignty, and safeguarding its supreme interests. The coalition also underscored the necessity of sparing Iraq the repercussions of American sanctions that may be imposed on some countries, noting that Iraq is undergoing a difficult financial period that cannot withstand any risks. The coalition reaffirmed continued coordination among its components and support for state institutions in facing current challenges. Regarding the completion of the government formation, an agreement was reached to initiate dialogue with the eligible blocs during the coming week. The attendees reaffirmed their adoption and support for the state's clear approach in rejecting sectarian discourse and promoting social peace in accordance with constitutional principles. The meeting also confirmed discussions on a draft oil and gas law, in preparation for its submission to the Council of Representatives, in addition to supporting the private sector as an important partner in national development. At the conclusion of the meeting, Al-Zaidi announced the imminent release of a new financial payment to settle the dues of farmers and contractors.
