Security naval operation results in arresting drug dealers and seizing huge shipment

The Directorate of Narcotics Affairs at the Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday the encirclement of three international drug traffickers of foreign nationalities and the retrieval of thirty kilograms of narcotics from territorial waters. The Ministry of Interior stated in an official release that intelligence operation units and the Special Investigations Department of the General Directorate of Narcotics Affairs, in cooperation with the Naval Forces Command and Naval Intelligence Directorate, executed a high-profile operation capturing the suspects following two days of surveillance and tracking. The confrontation took place in open waters amidst an exchange of gunfire adhering to approved engagement rules, resulting in the injury of one of the suspects. The defendants attempted to discard the narcotics into the water in a bid to conceal evidence, but security forces successfully recovered and seized the entire amount after interrogating one of the detainees inside the boat. The ministry emphasized that the pursuit of drug smuggling networks extends across all land and sea routes without exception.
