Security forces successfully foil illegal meat smuggling operation at Um Qasr port

The northern Umm Qasr port border directorate successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a shipment of banned meat and animal products on Thursday, following the interception of two refrigerated trucks inside the customs zone at the grand reception square. Border crossings commission official spokesperson Alaa Al-Din Al-Qaisi stated in an official announcement that the trucks contained beef tongue and animal fats prohibited from import, noting that they were hidden behind shipments of boneless meat in an attempt to pass them contrary to regulations. He added that a joint committee was formed with relevant authorities, an official seizure report was organized, and the confiscated goods were transferred to the Umm Qasr customs police station.
