Rosatom Confident Staff Will Return to Iran's Bushehr Nuclear Plant
Alexey Likhachev, head of Russian nuclear energy company "Rosatom," expressed confidence in returning staff to Iran's Bushehr nuclear plant in coming weeks, contingent on stable security. Rosatom, overseeing Bushehr's second and third unit construction, withdrew hundreds of employees from the site late February as a precautionary measure. This followed escalating security tensions, prompting the company to temporarily halt construction. The company later affirmed its project commitment, stressing that completing units two and three remains a priority. Despite partial evacuations, hundreds of staff remained at the site. In March, Rosatom condemned a strike near the Bushehr plant, confirming normal radiation levels and no worker injuries. Bushehr, Iran's first nuclear power facility, was built by Rosatom. The Russian firm continues to provide technical and operational support, including maintenance, nuclear fuel, and technical management.
