Pakistan Urges De-escalation and Adherence to Islamabad Memorandum Commitments

Pakistani Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, affirmed the necessity of full adherence to the ceasefire stipulated in the "Islamabad" Memorandum of Understanding, demanding the avoidance of any actions that could lead to an escalation of regional tensions. This affirmation came during a phone call he received from Kuwait's Foreign Minister, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, during which both parties discussed the latest regional developments amidst rising tensions. The Kuwaiti minister expressed his country's deep concern over the continued attacks targeting Kuwaiti territories, urging all parties to exercise maximum restraint and fully implement the provisions of the MoU concluded in Islamabad. For his part, Ishaq Dar stressed the urgent need for de-escalation, emphasizing the importance of respecting state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and affirming that maintaining regional peace and security remains a top priority. These diplomatic developments follow Iran's announcement on Saturday of suspending all its commitments under a previous memorandum of understanding with the United States. Tehran accused Washington of violating its pledges and resorting to 'aggressive actions.' In this context, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, stated that his country was engaged in negotiations with the American side when Washington carried out military actions, which he described as a direct violation of the commitments stipulated in the memorandum.
