Report: US Intelligence Error Led to Deadly Attack on Iranian Minab School
A recent report indicates the U.S. intelligence community made several errors, including an attack on a school in the Iranian city of Minab that resulted in 175 deaths. The report clarified that in 2019, a U.S. intelligence analyst reported observing changes at military facilities in Minab, noting a school as a potential Pentagon target within an unofficial internal system. An unreleased Pentagon investigation pointed to a lack of database integration preventing accurate target location information from reaching command. The report added that an internal U.S. Department of Defense investigation into the school targeting began last April but is currently frozen after transfer to the country's Central Command. Iranian authorities announced on February 28 that the U.S. and Israel launched an airstrike on a primary girls' school in Minab, killing 175 people, including 168 students, and injuring 95 others. Although the U.S. President later accused Iranian forces of the attack without evidence, missile debris found at the impact site showed marks of U.S. munitions.
