Lawyer Sues Mohamed Salah, Demanding Decisive Oath in Court

A new legal issue has emerged concerning Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah, as a lawyer has filed a lawsuit against him, seeking financial compensation and fees for alleged legal and administrative services. The court has summoned the player to appear in person to take a decisive oath. Details of the lawsuit stem from the lawyer's claim of holding a general power of attorney from Mohamed Salah since 2012. He asserts having performed legal and administrative work on behalf of the player and is now demanding financial dues for these services. According to information, the specifics of this lawsuit surfaced in September 2025. The New Cairo Court has scheduled a session to hear the case, requiring Salah to attend in person to take the decisive oath. The oath formulation involves denying that the former lawyer performed the claimed services or has any outstanding financial entitlements from the player. The court indicated that should Mohamed Salah fail to attend or refuse to take the oath without an acceptable excuse, it would be considered a "renunciation," with legal consequences as prescribed by law. Commenting on the case, media personality Ahmed Shobair expressed his astonishment, praising Salah's character and composure. Shobair, despite not deeply understanding law, stated his respect for it but found the news surprising. He affirmed Salah as a sound, balanced, and disciplined individual, whose charitable acts far exceed "3000 times" what the lawyer is demanding. Shobair noted that there are two perspectives on the case: some believe the lawyer is right, while others perceive it as a pursuit of fame. The lawyer stated he possesses a power of attorney dating back to 2012, roughly 14 years ago. Regarding Salah's potential attendance, Shobair mentioned consulting other lawyers who suggested it is likely Salah could appoint a representative to appear on his behalf, given his significant commitments with his club Trabzonspor in the Turkish League, which prevent his personal attendance.
