Iraqi Transport Ministry Confirms Continued Essential Supplies Flow and Limited Project Impact from Regional War

The Iraqi Ministry of Transport confirmed on Saturday that the ongoing regional conflict has had a limited impact on transport projects, noting the continued smooth flow of essential and food supplies through Iraqi ports, alongside active land transport movement. Hussein Ahmed, Director of Media and Government Communications at the Ministry, stated in an interview with the official news agency that while the war does have an effect, current indicators point to significant activity in land transport during this period. He mentioned that approximately 1,500 trucks depart from Iraq's western border crossing, while international traffic exceeded 7,000 during the past period, reaching Central Asia. Ahmed added that the land sector has witnessed substantial activity amid the current crisis, emphasizing that Iraq is not a party to this war but is affected by it. However, the impact on projects thus far remains within acceptable limits. Regarding the repercussions of the Strait of Hormuz crisis, he explained that Iraqi ports, like other regional ports, have been affected. Nevertheless, there continues to be a smooth flow of essential and food supplies arriving at the port, and port movement and ship operations remain uninterrupted. He further noted that the crisis has had a significant impact on the oil export file, but commercial activity has not yet affected Iraq's basic needs, which are vital for sustaining life in the country.
