Iraqi and Libyan intelligence coordination thwarts smuggling of over one million captagon pills
A joint intelligence operation between Iraq and Libya successfully thwarted the smuggling of 1.2 million captagon pills on Libyan soil, resulting in the arrest of a Libyan suspect. The Directorate General for Drug Affairs and Psychotropic Substances stated that the operation was executed in close coordination with the National Drug Enforcement Agency in Libya, based on accurate Iraqi intelligence gathered and shared through the directorate's Department of International Coordination and Cooperation. The directorate added that these intelligence findings helped formulate a joint operational plan and closely follow its implementation, ultimately stopping the illicit shipment and apprehending the suspect involved. Furthermore, the directorate emphasized that this operation clearly reflects the vital importance of international security collaboration and intelligence sharing in targeting transnational criminal networks, affirming that curbing drug trafficking demands cross-border partnerships to dismantle illicit syndicates and eliminate their smuggling sources.
