Iraq Announces Victoria Base Free of US Presence, 60-Day Deadline for Bashiqa Evacuation

First Lieutenant General Abdul Amir al-Shammari, Director of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Office, announced Saturday the complete absence of American presence at Victoria Base. He confirmed Iraq will bridge the aviation capability gap left by the international coalition's departure, stressing that no foreign combat forces or military bases will remain after September 30. Al-Shammari stated in televised remarks that international coalition forces would complete their withdrawal from Iraqi territory by September 30. He added that national security remains secure despite these changes. Regarding the Turkish presence, Al-Shammari noted ongoing Istanbul talks for Bashiqa's evacuation, clarifying Turkish forces would withdraw from the base within 60 days. He also stated Iraqi forces would fully control Sinjar mountain. On armed factions, Al-Shammari revealed three groups surrendered drones and rockets. He highlighted ongoing dialogue between several factions and political leaders for integration into the Popular Mobilization Forces. The Director reiterated Iraq's firm rejection of its territory being used to target neighbors, affirming no justification for non-state weapons after September 30. He also mentioned continued security coordination with regional countries and plans for new border posts with Turkey.
