Baghdad: Network Dismantled for Forging Bonds, Razing Farmlands; 10 Suspects Arrested

The Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency announced today, Sunday, the dismantling of a dangerous criminal network specializing in forging bonds, razing and subdividing agricultural lands, and selling them illegally in the Karkh area of Baghdad. This operation was conducted to protect state lands and combat forgery and the destruction of agricultural lands. Federal Police Intelligence detachments succeeded in apprehending the network following extensive intelligence and field efforts, implementing directives from the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Intelligence and Federal Investigations. Information indicated that the operation commenced after precise intelligence tips about suspicious activities managed by a group comprising government employees and contractors. This group deliberately razed agricultural lands and altered their features in violation of conditions and regulations issued by relevant authorities, in addition to defrauding citizens and selling those lands for substantial sums of money. Agency elements surrounded the network members and apprehended all suspects, numbering more than 10 individuals. Forged records and bonds were seized in their possession, along with large sums of money obtained by the network from the forgery operations. The operation was carried out based on proper judicial approvals. The suspects' statements were recorded, and they were referred, along with the seized items, to the competent judicial authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures.
