Iraq's Integrity Commission confirmed that a draft law for fund recovery will soon be presented to Parliament, noting its success in seizing significant amounts of funds abroad. Abbas Mutaaib, Director-General of the Commission's Recovery Department and Deputy Head of the Iraqi Fund Recovery Council, stated that its departments, particularly Recovery, are pioneers in digital transformation. He clarified the Commission successfully froze massive funds outside the country, preventing corruption perpetrators from disposing of them. Mutaaib added that the Integrity Commission, in coordination with the Ministry of Justice, is working to file civil lawsuits to reclaim these substantial frozen funds. He indicated the Recovery Department, through efforts of Commission head Mohammed Al-Lami and staff, has succeeded in seizing and recovering funds, while noting the absence of comprehensive legislation to regulate these operations. He further stated the draft recovery law will soon be presented to Parliament, explaining the Recovery Department achieved significant successes this year, with more achievements expected later.
