Maliki stresses to Defense Minister boosting army capabilities and national sovereignty

Head of the State of Law Coalition Nouri al-Maliki stressed, during his meeting with Defense Minister Nayef al-Shammari on Monday, the necessity of developing the capabilities of the armed forces and continuing efforts aimed at establishing security stability and safeguarding the country's sovereignty. During the meeting, congratulations were extended to al-Shammari on gaining the confidence of the parliament, as the general situation in the country was discussed. The media office of the State of Law Coalition stated in an official press release that the talks addressed the importance of supporting the military institution to enable it to perform its national duties efficiently, which contributes to confronting security risks and ensuring the safety of citizens across all provinces. For his part, the Defense Minister expressed his thanks and appreciation to al-Maliki, emphasizing the need to unify national energies, support the military forces, and continue work to strengthen security and stability while defending Iraq and its sovereignty.
