The Parliamentary Finance Committee revealed, today, Sunday, the inclusion of a clause to reinstate those with canceled contracts from the PMF and security forces in the 2026 budget, and a similar move regarding permanent employment for contracts and daily wagers.
A committee member, MP Baqir Youssef Al-Yassiri, stated, according to the official newspaper: "The approval of the Speaker of the Parliament has been obtained to include a special clause for reinstating those with canceled contracts from the Popular Mobilization Forces and all security forces within the draft general budget for the year 2026, after collecting signatures from a number of MPs supporting this demand."
Al-Yassiri explained that "the Finance Committee discussed in detail the file of permanent employment for contracts and daily wage earners, and the mechanisms of their transfer, permanent status, and processing their job statuses," emphasizing that "there is a tendency to find legal and financial solutions that ensure fairness for these segments in line with the financial capabilities of the state and the requirements of the coming stage."
He pointed out that "the meetings also dealt with the mechanism of organizing data of workers on contracts and daily wages in coordination with ministries and local governments, aiming to limit the numbers of eligible individuals and ensure their inclusion according to clear regulations, indicating that the committee is working to secure the financial allocations capable of actually implementing these measures after the budget approval."
The parliamentary movement includes multiple categories of contract workers, among them 315 contracts, daily wage earners, and contracts of some provinces, in addition to contract and daily wage employees of the Iraqi Media Network, who have been demanding permanent job status and improvement of their living and administrative conditions for years.
