High-Level Meeting Discusses Completing Transfer of Urban Security Duties to Interior Ministry

The Director of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Office, First Lieutenant General Abdul Amir al-Shammari, chaired a meeting on Monday to discuss completing the transfer of the security file within cities to the Ministry of Interior. A statement from the Security Media Cell reported that First Lieutenant General Al-Shammari presided over this expanded meeting to discuss the requirements for transitioning the security file within cities from Ministry of Defense units to Ministry of Interior formations. The meeting was attended by security leaders and officials, along with operations, police, and security agency commanders from Holy Karbala, Basra, and Maysan governorates via video conference. Field plans and implementation mechanisms were reviewed to conclude handover procedures, assessing unit readiness for a smooth transition and efficient security control. This aims to bolster internal stability and grant the Interior Ministry agencies the primary role in maintaining security and protecting public and private property. This gathering aligns with government directives and strategic plans to reallocate responsibilities between security and military agencies. The Ministry of Interior will assume full management of the internal security file, while the Ministry of Defense's duties will focus on protecting national borders and securing strategic state objectives.
