The Naval Intelligence Directorate announced on Wednesday the foiling of an attempt to smuggle oil derivatives and the arrest of two boat crews in Iraqi territorial waters. The directorate stated that the intelligence and security section at Umm Qasr naval base, affiliated with it, carried out a specialized security operation reflecting its vigilance and high readiness in protecting the territorial waters. The operation followed precise intelligence monitoring of the movements of two suspicious boats engaged in illegal activities in the maritime area, where the specialized force intercepted the boats, seized one loaded with oil derivatives, and arrested the crew members. The statement confirmed that this action is part of ongoing efforts to pursue smuggling networks, counter their attempts, enhance the security of territorial waters, and protect national resources from illegal exploitation.
