CMC Concludes Unlicensed Encrypted Digital Broadcasting in Dhi Qar and Maysan, Takes Legal Action Against 22 Violators

The Communications and Media Commission (CMC) announced on Thursday the complete cessation of unlicensed encrypted digital broadcasting systems in the governorates of Dhi Qar and Maysan. This announcement followed a series of legal and field procedures implemented by the CMC's office in the Southern Region – Dhi Qar against infringing entities. The Commission confirmed that Dhi Qar governorate is now free of any unlicensed encrypted digital broadcasting systems, following the necessary legal actions taken against 9 violators, as part of its efforts to regulate broadcasting services and terminate the operation of infringing systems. In Maysan governorate, the Commission's teams completed all procedures related to this matter, with no unlicensed encrypted digital broadcasting systems currently operating. Legal measures were taken against 13 violators in Maysan. Consequently, the total number of violators against whom legal action was taken in both governorates reached 22 individuals, leading to the full termination of unlicensed encrypted digital broadcasting systems therein. These measures are an extension of an ongoing campaign executed by the Communications and Media Commission across various governorates. This campaign had previously resulted in the complete elimination of unlicensed digital television broadcasting in Basra governorate, after shutting down 4 infringing networks there. The CMC affirmed the continued vigilance of its offices and specialized teams in monitoring unlicensed broadcasting systems and enforcing legal measures against violators. This aims to regulate the broadcasting sector, protect the frequency spectrum, and ensure adherence to established regulations and bylaws.
