Barcelona football club announced on Monday that their young defender Xavi Esparat will be out of action for seven weeks following an injury sustained during the El Clásico match against Real Madrid on Sunday. The club's official statement indicated that medical examinations confirmed an injury to the ligament connecting the ankle bones in his right foot, caused by a collision with an opposing player during the match. The statement added that the player is expected to be sidelined for approximately seven weeks. The Catalan fullback was injured in his right ankle after a clash with Aurélien Tchouaméni in the tenth minute. The 19-year-old, a graduate of the "La Masia" academy, continued playing until the 30th minute before requesting to be substituted by coach Hansi Flick.
