The Baghdad Municipality announced on Thursday the imposition of financial fines reaching up to one million dinars on citizens who tamper with newly upgraded roads and streets. The official spokesperson for the municipality stated that authorities continue to enforce the law against those who interfere with road facilities, whether by illegally installing speed bumps, digging up roads, or damaging them in any form. He pointed out that the fines are based on Decision No. 296, amended in 2009 by the Economic Affairs, and cover all types of violations affecting main and secondary roads, sidewalks, and public squares, especially after completion of rehabilitation and development works. It was emphasized that legal measures will be applied to anyone who tampers with these public facilities, to preserve infrastructure and ensure public safety.
