US Chargé d'Affaires Assures Army Chief of Staff of Continued Iraq-Washington Military Cooperation

Iraq's Chief of Staff of the Army, First Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, discussed today, Monday, with the new US Chargé d'Affaires to the Republic of Iraq, Ambassador Stephen Fagin, avenues of joint cooperation between the two friendly countries. A statement issued by the Ministry of Defense clarified that the Army Chief of Staff received Ambassador Fagin and his accompanying delegation at his office. At the outset of the meeting, General Yarallah welcomed the Ambassador and the delegation, wishing him success in his new diplomatic mission. The meeting witnessed an in-depth discussion on ways to develop bilateral relations and the existing military cooperation between Iraq and the United States of America. The meeting also included a review of several topics of mutual interest that serve the interests of both nations. During the talks, emphasis was placed on the importance of continuing coordination and joint cooperation, which would effectively enhance the capabilities of the Iraqi Armed Forces and support efforts to achieve security and stability throughout Iraq. For his part, the US Chargé d'Affaires, Ambassador Stephen Fagin, expressed his country's keenness to continue cooperation and coordination with the Iraqi military establishment, stressing that this cooperation serves the common interests of both sides.
