Syrian Foreign Ministry Firmly Rejects Jordanian Shelling in Daraa
The Syrian Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday its firm rejection of the shelling carried out by Jordanian forces in Daraa province, stating that it is unacceptable under any pretext. The ministry's statement highlighted the historic brotherly relations between Syria and Jordan, characterized by mutual understanding and shared concern for the interests of both peoples, noting with deep concern the recent security developments along the shared border. It strongly condemned the Jordanian shelling targeting several sites in Daraa and described the unauthorized airspace violation as unacceptable, resulting in casualties and injuries. The ministry also reiterated its condemnation of the recent attack on Mar George Church, calling it a blatant assault on religious and humanitarian values and an attempt to harm the social fabric. It expressed condolences for the martyrs and wished a speedy recovery for the injured, emphasizing that such military actions are entirely unacceptable and represent a breach of good neighborliness and national sovereignty. The statement pointed out the existence of parties attempting to disrupt the relations between the two countries and sow discord, affirming ongoing direct coordination with Jordan to establish a joint field and security committee aimed at halting violations, securing the borders, and ensuring full security coordination to prevent future attacks.
