Security and Defense Committee Prepares to Revisit Military Industrialization File

The parliamentary Security and Defense Committee is preparing to open the file of the Military Industrialization Authority and support its operational plans. This initiative aims to secure various supplies, equipment, and gear for security sectors, thereby easing the financial burden on the state. Khalid Sido, a member of the committee, stated in an interview with the official newspaper that the committee has not yet communicated with the Authority. However, he confirmed that a direct meeting with the Authority would take place soon to gain first-hand insight into the reality of military industries in the country. Sido explained the committee currently lacks comprehensive information regarding the scale of military industries and available capabilities, pointing to a weakness in this area. He stressed the necessity of direct dialogue with relevant parties to understand the reasons for this decline and explore potential investments to advance the military industry. He indicated the anticipated meeting would be crucial for understanding the Authority's operational nature and its requirements for support and allocations. The discussion will also cover establishing a clear vision to reactivate military industries, contributing to reducing reliance on foreign sources for supplying security and military forces. Sido highlighted that many nations primarily depend on their own military industries, with state support for development. He added these industries could meet the armed forces' needs for uniforms and equipment, alongside potential development in manufacturing weapons, vehicles, and armored personnel carriers domestically. Sido affirmed the Security and Defense Committee would work to open this file more broadly in the upcoming phase. Communication with the Military Industrialization Authority is the initial step towards forming a clear picture of the state of military industries and developing a practical vision for their activation and advancement.
