Ronaldo mocks British pundit with funny comment regarding Portugal team crisis
The fallout from the crisis between Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal coach Jorge Jesus continues following his departure from the national team camp, as the veteran star entered into a sarcastic confrontation with English media figure and businessman Simon Jordan. British media personality Piers Morgan revealed a special comment sent to him by Ronaldo after watching a clip of a discussion he had with Jordan regarding the Portuguese star's recent crisis with his national team. Morgan explained during his sports program that Ronaldo commented on Jordan, stating that the blond man should stop injecting botox because he looks like an apple, adding sarcastically that Ronaldo believes Jordan's face has become suspiciously smooth due to these procedures. Jordan had engaged in a sharp discussion with Morgan on a television program via a prominent media network after the latter defended Ronaldo and criticized the media's handling of his crisis with Jesus. Jordan questioned whether Ronaldo's behavior could be a main reason behind the recurring crises he faces lately. Morgan responded sarcastically, asking whether Jordan had ever played football before, to which the latter replied that he had previously owned a club and dealt with players, before the intensity of the dialogue escalated between both sides. Following the spread of the confrontation clip, Morgan sent it to Ronaldo, who responded in his usual sarcastic manner. These developments come light of a crisis that erupted during the past international break after the Portugal captain left the team camp following a dispute with Jesus. According to the player's account, he was scheduled to participate in the team's two matches, but later learned that the coach did not want him to travel to Norway and Denmark, which the player refused, considering that staying in Portugal did not send an appropriate message to his teammates. On the day of the Norway match, things changed when Jesus told him during lunch that he might participate for thirty minutes. Although this participation was not part of his recovery and training program, he agreed and began preparations. Indeed, the Portuguese star began warm-up operations at the start of the second half but remained on the bench and did not enter the pitch, which Ronaldo considered a failure to keep a promise that caused the dispute to escalate. After the match, Ronaldo admitted that he made a mistake when he did not go to thank the Portuguese fans and offered his apologies to them. He also revealed a subsequent meeting that brought him together with Jesus and Simao Coutinho, the sporting director of Al-Nassr club, pointing out that there was an agreement to clarify what happened during the press conference, but he was surprised to hear aggressive phrases that exceeded expectations according to his expression. He considered that this incident was the second time Jesus did not keep his promise, which led to the collapse of trust and pushed him to leave the camp. Despite this, the Portugal captain took responsibility for his decision and apologized to his teammates, confirming that he should not have left the camp no matter the disputes, and acknowledging that the Portuguese Football Association might punish him without desiring any special treatment. He denied that leaving the camp is the end of his international career, confirming his desire to continue as long as he maintains his readiness and scoring goals, and pointing out that the time for farewell has not yet come.
