PMF Thwarts Terrorist Plot Targeting Military Positions in Anbar

The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) announced on Thursday the thwarting of a terrorist plot aimed at targeting military sites in Anbar province. According to a statement issued by the PMF, a force from the emergency detachment of the Fourth Regiment, 55th Brigade, carried out a security and inspection duty within its area of responsibility in Anbar province. The operation covered complex desert terrain areas located south of the international highway. During the operation, and relying on devices for detecting war remnants and available intelligence information, a number of mortar shells and their accessories were discovered. These materials were prepared for use against military barracks and positions. Competent authorities have proceeded with handling the seized materials and have taken the necessary legal measures in accordance with adopted procedures and instructions.
