New details regarding goods inspection mechanism at border crossings
The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed on Monday the continuation of agricultural quarantine procedures across all border crossings by returning or destroying non-compliant goods, pointing out the presence of specialized teams to inspect incoming commodities and apply legal measures against violators. Ministry spokesperson Qusay Al-Hattab stated that quarantine mechanisms are implemented in coordination with the Border Crossings Authority, the National Security Agency, and other supporting security forces. He added that strict measures are taken regarding goods that have exceeded their legal period, expired, or failed to meet approved import specifications, noting specific timeframes for the validity of imported materials before quarantine instructions apply. He pointed out the presence of specialized veterinary department personnel at all crossings to inspect, seize, and destroy materials violating regulations, noting that many such items have been previously returned. He continued that monitoring teams track local markets to seize items entering illegally, citing the confiscation of processed meats in the Fudailiya area that entered through the Al-Mundhiriya crossing. He emphasized ongoing coordination with the investigating judge, the Ministry of Interior, and Economic Security to crack down on smuggling operations and violating goods.
