Ministry of Justice: Prisons in 5 Governorates Produce School Supplies with Inmate Efforts
The Ministry of Justice announced Thursday that inmates in its correctional facilities completed a range of school equipment, which has been gifted to the Ministry of Education. This initiative aims to develop rehabilitation and production programs within prisons. A statement from the ministry's media office clarified that correctional institutions in the prisons of Babel, Adala/2, Nasiriyah, Central Baghdad, and Najaf Al-Ashraf executed this project. Specialized teams oversaw the implementation, aiming to utilize inmates' skills in public benefit activities, fostering work ethic, and equipping them with professional skills for their post-sentence lives. Murad Al-Saadi, Director of Media for the Ministry of Justice, affirmed that modern reform philosophy transcends mere punishment, focusing instead on inmate rehabilitation and positive societal reintegration. He added that transforming these rehabilitation program outputs into products serving state institutions reflects the ministry's vision for prisons as suitable productive and rehabilitative environments.
