The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has reiterated its stances and threats, awaiting a significant statement from the US Treasury Secretary tomorrow, Monday. IRGC spokesperson Major General Hossein Mohebi confirmed in a press conference that the Guard possesses "a scenario and a response for every hostile American action," in response to the economic war threatened by US President Donald Trump. Mohebi clarified: "We have repeatedly announced that we have a scenario for every hostile action taken by the enemy, and among those hostile actions is economic warfare." He added, "We have a scenario to avert the negative effects of the enemy's war, and we easily establish economic relations with nations; there is no concern in the economic sphere." Mohebi considered Washington's initiation of an economic war as an implicit admission of military defeat, stating, "If you had triumphed in the military field, it would not have been necessary for you to start an economic war." He stressed that economic warfare is not new to his country, asserting, "For 47 years, you have been waging an economic war and imposing sanctions on all pillars of our economy." In a related context, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi earlier rejected the threat of new US sanctions, describing it as evidence of despair. He affirmed that the anticipated American measures would not succeed in defeating Tehran. These positions come after the US Treasury Secretary threatened to hold a press conference tomorrow to impose "the harshest sanctions in history" on Iran. US President Donald Trump also warned of economic consequences for any country providing "any kind of vital support to Iran." These Iranian statements emerge at a time when the Iranian economy is already facing significant pressure due to recent international and American sanctions, with the country's infrastructure repeatedly targeted since the United States and Israel launched attacks on February 28. Nevertheless, Tehran continues to maintain a defiant stance nearly six months into the escalating tensions, which have led to a near-complete halt of shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, by refusing to allow unauthorized oil tankers to pass through this vital waterway for global oil shipments.
