Iraq, Turkey Activate Faysh Khabur Border Crossing Agreement

The Iraqi-Turkish agreement for a new border crossing at Faysh Khabur, in Tal Afar district, will soon become effective. This is based on a memorandum signed to support infrastructure, development, and reconstruction projects in Nineveh Governorate. Mohammed Ahris, a Nineveh Provincial Council member, affirmed the anticipated crossing is a vital step to boost commercial activity and increase Iraq's revenues. He explained it will be a new conduit for goods and trade exchange, supporting the Rabiaa crossing and enhancing Nineveh's role as a key trade hub between Iraq and Turkey. Ahris added that linking this new crossing to the Development Road project will strengthen Iraq's economic position, opening wide opportunities for transport and investment. It will also create jobs and stimulate various economic sectors. This initiative, he stated, is integral to Iraqi-Turkish economic cooperation, ensuring the reinforcement of border crossings and the development of transport and trade routes. This will bolster Iraq's status as a strategic trade corridor connecting the region and the world.
