Iraq has announced its readiness to cooperate with sisterly Gulf states by forming joint and specialized investigative committees aimed at actively identifying the parties responsible for recent attacks targeting countries in the region. This cooperation seeks to enhance collective security and maintain regional stability. This announcement came as Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein reaffirmed, on Friday, Iraq's steadfast position rejecting the expansion of war or the destabilization of the region's security. Minister Hussein received an important phone call from the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, who congratulated him on the renewed confidence in his appointment as Foreign Minister. Grossi noted that the Minister's continued tenure reflects an approach that clearly contributes to strengthening Iraqi foreign policy stability and developing the country's international relations on a wide scale. During the call, the two sides extensively discussed regional developments and recent efforts towards signing a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran. These efforts aim to reduce tension and promote regional stability. They exchanged views on the implications of any potential understandings and their impact on regional security, emphasizing the aspirations of the region's peoples for peace, security, and avoiding continuous escalation. The call also addressed the attacks on Gulf states, with the Minister reiterating Iraq's categorical condemnation of any aggression targeting civilian and vital installations, including the attack on the Barakah nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates. Concluding the call, Hussein expressed his thanks to Grossi for his call and congratulations, appreciating his efforts in supporting dialogue and building trust to develop Iraq's regional relations, especially with the Arab Gulf states and the United Arab Emirates.
