Iran's representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ali Bahreini, stated that the Strait of Hormuz remains fully open to commercial shipping, emphasizing that no fees are imposed on navigation. Bahreini indicated that future developments, beyond a 60-day period, will be contingent upon the progress of ongoing negotiations. The Iranian diplomat further clarified, during a press conference, that discussions concerning the Strait of Hormuz would initially take place between Iran and Oman, followed by broader talks with other parties involved in the memorandum of understanding. In a related context, Bahreini revealed that Tehran has formed two specialized working groups to address the issues of international sanctions relief and Iran's nuclear program. He stressed the imperative of implementing five core provisions of the memorandum of understanding before proceeding with nuclear file negotiations and defining the role of the International Atomic Energy Agency. The Iranian ambassador affirmed his country's readiness to continue negotiations with the United States, provided Washington maintains its willingness to cooperate and adopts a constructive approach, emphasizing that dialogue must be founded on mutual commitments. Regarding the Lebanese issue, Bahreini declared that the agreement includes the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territories. He considered any new aggressions against Lebanon, whether targeting Beirut or the South, to constitute a "red line" that must not be crossed. The Iranian representative in Geneva warned that Iran would respond decisively should Israel violate the memorandum of understanding in any manner, including launching attacks on Lebanese territory or targeting Hezbollah.
