The Ministry of Interior confirmed that there is no intention to extend the deadline set for weapons registration scheduled to conclude by the end of this year, revealing that it has officially received over 700,000 applications since the launch of the project. Major General Mansour Ali Sultan, Director General of the Directorate of Arms Control and Organization, stated in a press interview that security leadership has made no decision regarding an extension. He emphasized that the deadline to properly complete legal possession procedures remains the end of the current year, adding that received submissions have now surpassed 700,000 applications. Sultan urged citizens to take advantage of the remaining period to complete required regulatory procedures, noting the lack of exact statistics regarding unregistered firearms, while pointing out the noticeable public turnout and increasing applications for formal registration. He reiterated the ministry’s ongoing dedication to monitoring registration procedures and encouraging citizens to finalize files within the set timeframe, thereby promoting legal compliance, enhancing national stability, and upgrading central security databases. Furthermore, Sultan explained that the national databank maintains an integrated system covering registered weapons that will be accessible to security forces and state civil bodies, while integration with the unified national card system remains underway.
