Integration of 4000 Sinjar Protection Units into Federal Security Forces and City Reconstruction Plan
The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah Al-Numan, confirmed today that 4,000 members of the Sinjar Protection Units will be integrated into the federal security forces. This move follows government directives and orders from the Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief, to consolidate weapons under state control. During the ceremony marking the integration of Sinjar Protection Units and Women’s Protection Units into the federal security forces, Al-Numan highlighted that Mount Sinjar remained resistant to terrorism thanks to the sacrifices of its people, the blood of martyrs, and the protection units. He added that the Sinjar Protection Units have now become part of the official security apparatus, and the upcoming phase will shift focus from combat to reconstruction and rebuilding of the city, which suffered extensive destruction. The local government in Nineveh continues to support Sinjar city, with the reconstruction file and integration procedures being closely monitored under the supervision of the Commander-in-Chief’s office and Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Al-Shammari. These efforts pave the way for the next stage involving the return of displaced residents, with full control and protection of Sinjar’s land, mountain, and city entrusted to the Iraqi army units.
