Flick considers resting Raphinha with Jesus leading Barcelona attack
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick faces a complex situation following the injury sustained by Brazilian Raphinha, although medical examinations ruled out any muscle tear. Spanish newspaper "SPORT" reported on Monday that Flick and Barcelona's medical staff are unwilling to take risks with the player, with the possibility of resting him against Getafe in the Spanish League, in order to prepare him for upcoming matches against Galatasaray and Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League, in addition to two fixtures against Real Betis and Real Madrid in the league. In the event of Raphinha's absence, fellow Brazilian Gabriel Jesus emerges as the primary option to lead Barcelona's attack, after scoring two goals during substitute appearances against Feyenoord and Racing Santander. Egyptian striker Hamza Abdel Karim also stands out as an alternative option, particularly after scoring a goal with the Egypt national team during the international break, despite making limited appearances for Barcelona this season. According to the newspaper, Abdel Karim possesses the characteristics of an out-and-out striker, making him an available option for Flick should he need to energize the attacking line during the match.
