Diwaniyah Police Arrest Gunman Who Shot Citizen Over Food Price Dispute

The Diwaniyah Police Command announced on Sunday the arrest of an individual who fired shots at a citizen, causing injury. This action was carried out in implementation of the directives of the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Police Affairs, and under the direct supervision of the Commander of Diwaniyah Police, Major General Najah Mahmoud Sultan. The Police Command clarified that a force from the Diwaniyah Police Station succeeded in apprehending the intoxicated suspect, who had used a pistol to open fire following a dispute over the price of a "Baja" meal in a restaurant. Immediately after the incident, security forces moved to the scene, identified the suspect, arrested him, and seized the weapon used. The Diwaniyah Police Command affirmed that the necessary legal procedures have been taken against the accused, who was detained by the specialized investigating judge, preparatory to his referral to the judiciary to receive his just punishment.
