Customs Begins Implementing Cabinet Decision to Extend Vehicle Entry Period
The General Commission of Customs announced on Thursday the commencement of implementing a Cabinet decision to extend the period for the entry of specified categories of vehicles. This measure is in consideration of the prevailing regional circumstances that have disrupted supply chains, led to port closures, and caused delays in shipping operations. The Commission has circulated Cabinet Decision No. (468) of 2026 to all its relevant directorates and customs centers, instructing them to take the necessary steps for its execution. The decision aims to extend the entry period for vehicles covered by Decision No. (215) of 2009, ensuring the swift processing of transactions and the smooth entry of vehicles in accordance with current customs laws, regulations, and controls. The Commission clarified that the implementation of this decision seeks to facilitate procedures and address the repercussions of exceptional circumstances that have impacted transportation and shipping movements. It also emphasized strict adherence to legal and customs controls and the protection of public funds. Thamer Qasim Daoud, Director-General of the General Commission of Customs, affirmed that the Commission will monitor the decision's implementation at all relevant customs centers to achieve its objectives, remove obstacles for citizens and traders, and expedite procedures without compromising customs inspection and auditing requirements.
