Commander-in-Chief Orders Reopening Shalamcheh, Shyb Crossings for Stranded

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Al-Zaidi, directed on Saturday the permission for Iraqi travelers stranded at the Shalamcheh and Shyb border crossings to enter and exit. The head of the Security Media Cell, Lieutenant General Saad Maan, confirmed this directive issued by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The decision followed an earlier advisory from the Security Media Commission regarding the closure of the two crossings. The Commission clarified that the closure decision was a result of new administrative and security arrangements that necessitated halting movement through them. A statement from the Commission indicated that the competent security authorities had initiated administrative and security reorganization operations at several border crossings, which required their closure. The statement reported that a series of necessary legal measures have been taken, alongside intensified intelligence work, investigation, and auditing to ascertain the circumstances of violations and irregularities that occurred at these crossings, and to implement appropriate solutions and remedies. Information also indicated that the Zurbatiyah and Al-Munthiriya crossings remain open for passenger traffic.
