The Directorate of Civil Defense announced on Friday the recovery of a worker's body and the rescue of twelve others, following the collapse of a building under construction in Baghdad's Al-Atifiya area, located on the Karkh side of the capital. The directorate reported that the incident occurred during concrete pouring operations after midnight on Thursday, resulting in the death of one worker and varying degrees of injuries to 12 others. Civil Defense rescue teams immediately mobilized their field capabilities upon receiving the report, successfully retrieving the deceased worker's body and safely evacuating the injured. On-site first aid was provided before their transfer to nearby hospitals for necessary medical treatment. The directorate also indicated that an official investigation has been launched to determine the causes and circumstances of the collapse.
