Al-Qabbanji Calls for Government Action on Airspace Breach and Addresses Closure of Al-Shaib Crossing
Sayyid Sadr al-Din al-Qabbanji, Imam of the Friday prayers in Najaf al-Ashraf, called on the Iraqi government to take a firm stance against the Israeli airspace violations over Iraq, describing it as a breach of national sovereignty and a violation of international laws. During his Friday sermon, al-Qabbanji expressed gratitude to the Iraqi ministry for hosting female students in Azerbaijan, praising Najaf al-Ashraf governorate's initiative in this regard and proposing solidarity events with the Azerbaijani people in schools and universities. He also commended the initiative of holding religious hymns in elementary schools, thanking those responsible for these efforts. On the security front, al-Qabbanji confirmed official reports indicating Israeli airspace violations over Iraq, urging the government to take serious measures to confront this breach and protect the sanctity of Iraq and its people's sentiments. Locally, he referred to protests in the city of Amarah against the closure of the Al-Shaib border crossing, which caused economic damage to those affected. Al-Qabbanji demanded that the government clarify the reasons behind the closure and provide suitable alternatives for those impacted, noting that the lack of explanation has led to negative perceptions. He also suggested that the decision might be an attempt to tighten restrictions on Iran and travelers. Regionally, he touched on Egypt's military support for Saudi Arabia against the Houthis, mentioning protests in Egypt calling for the departure of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and rejecting alignment in the conflict. Internationally, he discussed the deterioration of security, political, and economic conditions, viewing the rising rejection of Western hegemony in Europe as a political and economic defeat for the United States in its confrontation with Iran, which has contributed to rising prices. He indicated that the global system under American dominance is on the verge of collapse. Additionally, he criticized the former U.S. president's mockery of the Prophet Muhammad's name, interpreting it as evidence of Islam's spread and the growing Islamic awareness confronting global arrogance.
