Al-Fayyadh: Iraq's Political System is Democratic, Based on Peaceful Transfer of Power
Faleh Al-Fayyadh, head of the Popular Mobilization Forces, affirmed today that Iraq's political system is democratic, built upon the peaceful transfer of power and the participation of all components. He highlighted the nation's success in overcoming major crises. During a symposium titled (Nineveh.. A Present Shaping the Future), Al-Fayyadh stated that Mosul holds a rich heritage and a strategic geographical location. He expressed hope for Nineveh Governorate to regain its pivotal role in Iraq's future within five years, noting the city's rapid recovery from ISIS's terrorist effects. Al-Fayyadh added that the logic of wars has proven its failure in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran. He affirmed the government's commitment to finalizing the Sinjar file within three months, aiming to remove the district from conflict and achieve comprehensive stability. He also clarified that mechanisms for closing displacement camps are complete, yet some parties obstruct implementation due to their interests. He pointed out that stability in Sinjar has expedited the return of displaced persons to the area. Concluding his remarks, Al-Fayyadh indicated Nineveh might be more secure today than Baghdad and Basra, emphasizing the Yazidis' great tragedy and the complex, government-followed file of their kidnapped members.
