Zidane indicated that he would vote for Messi 100 times for the Ballon d'Or award if given the opportunity. Zidane is currently coaching the French national team, succeeding his former teammate Didier Deschamps. The list of French nominees for the Ballon d'Or includes five players: Ousmane Dembélé, Kylian Mbappé, Michael Olise, William Saliba, and Dayot Upamecano. In statements reported by the Spanish newspaper "Marca," Zidane said: "I think people don't truly realize how amazing it is to remain among the best players in the world when you are 39 years old." The French coach particularly emphasized that Messi continues to deliver performances that enable him to strongly compete for the most prestigious individual awards. Zidane added: "I wouldn't be surprised if Messi wins the award," questioning whether any other nominee had a greater impact than the Argentine star. Regarding the ongoing debate about the identity of the greatest player in football history, he replied: "If anyone still has doubts about the discussion of the best in history, frankly, that person does not belong to the football community."
