WhatsApp warns of fake app spying on users

WhatsApp announced it alerted around 200 users who were tricked into installing a malicious fake version of the app containing spyware.

The company said the fake app targeted iPhone users and confirmed it logged out affected users and warned them about security risks linked to unofficial apps.

WhatsApp also stated it is taking legal action to stop such activities and urged users to download only the official app.
