Washington imposes sanctions on the International Criminal Court and the latter confirms refusal to surrender
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Friday the imposition of official sanctions targeting the International Criminal Court. Rubio explained during press statements that the US administration, led by President Donald Trump, will not allow the court to prosecute American citizens under any circumstances. The US official indicated that the new sanctions package includes banning direct dealings with the court, cutting off all its funding sources, and undermining its operational capacity to work against American interests. Rubio called on allied members of the court to rein it in, stressing that the United States will continue its efforts to dismantle it if it persists in its current approach. In response, the International Criminal Court issued an official statement confirming that the US measures aim to disrupt its duties and intimidate cooperating entities, emphasizing the continuation of its work and its refusal to surrender to the imposed pressures.
